HELP to Humla with School in a Bag!

Humla is the 23rd district in Nepal that HELP has recently reached through the School in a Bag initiative for 471 students across six schools. Our effort there was to encourage children in the remote villages of Adamchuli and Sarkegad Rural Municipalities—over 870 km from Kathmandu—to attend school regularly by providing School bags filled with vital educational resources.

Many children in schools like Shree Bhawani Basic School in the village of Gothi, the oldest in Humla, still have to walk two hours each way. Their classrooms are without sufficient light under tumbledown tin roofs, worn-out desks and benches, walls made of mud that could crumble at any time and very limited educational resources. Yet, despite these challenges, the children’s desire to learn and a hope for brighter future keeps them strong and resilient. Receiving a school bag brought them an instant joy and the resources inside would provide them with much needed learning tools.
We first received a request from Humla about a year and a half ago. And, after a year of preparation and coordination, our team undertook a 10 days of journey to finally deliver these resources; thanks to our partnership with School in a Bag for funding this and the support of the schools and local coordinators.

In the coming weeks and months, we will be reaching out to several more districts with similar resources for over 1600 children!
