"Anthony Lunch Memorial Scholarship for Postgraduate Studies in Nepal" is a scholarship set up to honour the work and legacy of Anthony Lunch, the founder of Mondo Foundation. Anthony dedicated three decades of his life to create opportunities for disadvantaged children and young people to receive a quality education.

He strongly believed that young people, through academic achievement, can be motivated and empowered to stay in their country and through their careers make an impact on their local community. His contribution to the field of International Development through projects in three continents, began in Nepal. Nepal is arguably where his work had the strongest impact, benefiting thousands of Nepalese children.

Anthony's family and friends felt it would be most fitting to continue his legacy through "Anthony Lunch Memorial Scholarship for Postgraduate Studies in Nepal" which targets Nepali youth who have a strong desire to continue Master's Level education in Nepal, but are encountering challenges, particularly financial constraints, that hinder their academic goals. Eligibility Criteria

  • Must have a clear plan and defined purpose for pursuing a Master's degree from a recognized university in Nepal.

  • Must have secured a confirmed admission or received a conditional offer for the chosen Master's programme.

  • Must demonstrate genuine financial need and clearly articulate the reasons for applying for this scholarship.

  • Must be available to attend an in-person interview if shortlisted.

  • Must express a strong commitment to remain in Nepal after graduation and show a clear plan to contribute to their community and the nation.

Financial Value

The scholarship offers a total value of Rs. 160,000, disbursed in installments throughout the duration of the academic program. It is intended solely to cover tuition fees and other academic expenses.

Partnership with Kathmandu University School of Education (KUSoED)

Of the two scholarships available, one will be awarded to a candidate pursuing a Master’s degree at Kathmandu University School of Education, subject to the fulfillment of the university’s admission requirements. The department may also provide an additional scholarship or make alternative arrangements to ensure full coverage of the tuition fees.

Required Documents and Essays

Documents:

  • Latest Passport sized Photo.
  • Latest CV with two references.
  • Citizenship Card or National ID Card.
  • Transcript of the last two degrees.
  • Offer letter or acceptance letter from your college if available.

Essays:

  • What are your academic goals, and what motivates you to pursue a Master’s degree? (250-300 words.)
  • Tell us why you need this scholarship, including the subject you wish to study, the estimated cost, and your plan to cover the expenses. How would receiving this scholarship help you achieve your academic and career aspirations? (300-500 words.)
  • What are your long-term goals, and how do you envision contributing to the growth and development of the community you belong to? (200 words.)
    • Can you describe an achievement that you are most proud of, whether it is related to your academics or another aspect of your life? Explain the specific situation, the actions you took, and the impact your achievement had on you, others, or your community. What makes this accomplishment especially meaningful to you? If possible, please include supporting evidence such as photographs, certificates, or other relevant documents that best showcase your accomplishment. (200–250 words)
    • If you have additional achievements that are worth highlighting, but were not included as your main accomplishment, please briefly describe them here. You may provide a short paragraph or a list of achievements. (Optional, 150 words maximum)
